Why wait days for results?

Most clinics send your sample to an outside lab. You wait 1–7 days, worry, and come back for treatment. We run the same type of PCR test in our office on an FDA-cleared analyzer — so you get an answer in about 20 minutes, and if you test positive, you can be treated before you leave.

$189 — everything included

  • Private visit with our medical provider
  • Rapid PCR test for chlamydia and gonorrhea (both included)
  • Results in about 20 minutes, explained by the provider
  • Treatment plan and prescription the same visit if you test positive

No hidden lab bill later. No results portal to wait on.

Using insurance? We accept most PPO plans — your visit and lab are billed to your plan and standard copays/deductibles apply. Medication cost at the pharmacy is separate.

How It Works

  1.  Book online or walk in. Same-day appointments; most visits take 30–40 minutes door to door.
  2. Quick, painless sample. A simple urine sample for men; for women we recommend an easy self-collected vaginal swab — it is the most accurate sample type.
  3. Results in ~20 minutes. The provider reviews your results with you and, if needed, starts treatment on the spot.

The same PCR technology national labs use — without the wait

Our office runs the Roche cobas liat CT/NG test — an FDA-cleared, CLIA-waived PCR (NAAT) system. In peer-reviewed clinical validation against the same laboratory platforms used by national reference labs, it showed 97–98% sensitivity for chlamydia and 98–100% for gonorrhea (male urine and vaginal swab samples), with ~99.8–99.9% specificity. In plain English: the accuracy of a send-out lab test, in about 20 minutes.

Nolte et al., Journal of Clinical Microbiology (2025) — sensitivity/specificity of the cobas liat CT/NG/MG assay vs. laboratory NAAT comparators. FDA 510(k) clearance with CLIA waiver, January 2025.

Who should get tested

Get tested if you have a new partner, a partner who tested positive, symptoms (burning, discharge, pelvic pain), or simply want peace of mind. Chlamydia and gonorrhea are the two most common bacterial STIs and are often symptomless — and both are curable with the right antibiotics. Note: if your exposure was within the last 1–2 weeks, the infection may not be detectable yet; our provider will advise on timing and retesting.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can PCR results be ready in 20 minutes?

We run the test in our office on the Roche cobas liat analyzer — a compact FDA-cleared PCR instrument. It performs the same nucleic acid amplification (NAAT) a reference laboratory performs, just at the point of care, so there is no shipping, batching, or waiting.

Is a 20-minute test as accurate as a lab test?

Yes. In peer-reviewed validation against laboratory NAAT platforms, this test showed 97–98% sensitivity for chlamydia and 98–100% for gonorrhea (male urine and vaginal swabs) with ~99.8–99.9% specificity.

What sample do you collect?

Men provide a simple urine sample. For women, we recommend a quick self-collected vaginal swab, which is the most accurate sample type for this test. No blood draw is needed for chlamydia/gonorrhea.

What does it cost?

$189, all-inclusive: the provider visit, the rapid PCR test for both chlamydia and gonorrhea, your results, and a same-visit treatment plan and prescription if you test positive. If you prefer to use insurance, we accept most PPO plans and bill your plan instead; normal copays and deductibles apply.

What happens if I test positive?

Both chlamydia and gonorrhea are curable. Our provider will explain your result, prescribe the CDC-recommended treatment before you leave, and talk through partner notification and retesting. Medication cost at the pharmacy is separate.

Do I need an appointment?
Booking online guarantees your slot, but walk-ins are welcome as capacity allows. Most visits take 30–40 minutes total.
Is testing confidential?
Yes. Your visit and results are protected health information under HIPAA. Like every California provider, we are required to confidentially report positive chlamydia/gonorrhea results to the public health department — this is routine and does not appear on any public record.
How soon after exposure can I test?
Chlamydia and gonorrhea generally become detectable about 1–2 weeks after exposure. If you test earlier, our provider may recommend a repeat test. If you have symptoms, come in right away regardless of timing.
Do you test for other STDs too?
Yes — we can add HIV, syphilis, and other testing during the same visit.
Can I use my HSA/FSA?
Yes, HSA and FSA cards are accepted for the $189 visit.

Stop wondering. Know in 20 minutes.
